um you have to buy a new engine
This is not as easy as it sounds. The ethanol in E85 is corrosive to most of the materials used in fuel system that is designed for gasoline. It can also deteriorate plastic and rubber not designed for ethanol.
You would need to replace the entire fuel system, from the fuel tank to the fuel injection, and everything in between. And the replacement fuel system would need to tie into your existing electronics and bolt on to your engine. You would also need to pay someone to install it.
This would most likely cost you more than the car is worth.
Although these cars weren’t great on fuel mileage, they weren’t horrible either. You should look into why this car uses so much fuel. It may only be a maintenance issue such as a good tune up or a faulty component such as a plugged catalytic converter.
By the way, a factory flex fuel vehicle gets about 20% less fuel mileage when running on E85, so if your car guzzles gas now, the mileage will be horrible on E85. But with factory flex fuel vehicles, the difference in the price of the fuel offsets the decreased fuel mileage, so you come out ahead.
Converting an old car such as yours really doesn’t make much sense. You say its a gas guzzler, you will actually get less miles per gallon then gasoline even if you convert to e85.
I suggest for your car, sticking with regular gasoline with ten percent ethanol.
